Grants made by the trust
The Trustees will make grants for establishment or provision of basic rugby facilities e.g. posts and post protectors; to promote coaching of rugby union football to children and young people from Under 19 downwards and other courses necessary for the proper running of these age groups.
Subject to there being sufficient funds available the Trustees will prioritise requests for funding from schools and clubs to establish rugby pitches and to provide basic equipment for games to be played; thereafter the funds will be applied to encourage young players to play rugby union football, adults to manage, organise or run teams or squads at Under 19 downwards, coaches to take appropriate coaching qualifications particularly at RFU Level 2 and above and individuals to take refereeing courses. Subject to availability of funds other projects may be considered from time to time.
Grants will not be given for travel costs, buildings, kit costs (e.g. shirts or clothing), or to any School or Club outside Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.
Applications must be from Schools and/or Clubs resident in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire affiliated to the Rugby Football Union or the English Schools Rugby Football Union. No application from any individual will be considered.
The Trustees meet twice a year, usually in April and November. All applications should be made on the standard application form. Grants are at the sole discretion of the Trustees and may not meet the whole of any application. Grants will only be paid where proof of expenditure or successful completion of a course is made available to the Trustees.
Applicants are encouraged to seek matched funding wherever possible.
Grants will only be made in connection with equipment, courses and other projects which are exclusively for the benefit of players in the Under 19 groups downwards and the application is endorsed by the RDO or CRC for their area.

Guidance Notes for Grant Applications
The Trust is in place to support the development of Rugby Union Football in the Counties of Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire for the age groups Under 19 and downwards.
It would be in your best interests to liaise with your RDO/CRC before making an application for grant.
The Trustees wish to see grant applications from Clubs and Schools and will not support applications from individuals. Contributions from the Club or School or any other grants or donations towards the whole process or project will have to be shown on the application. The level of ownership and support by the Club or School towards the application will be assessed by the Trustees before a grant is made.
In respect of courses taken the Club or School need to show that those who have taken the course have passed it successfully for the Trustees to consider a grant can be made. Completion of the course must have been since the previous meeting of the Trustees. You cannot backdate applications.
The type of course is not restrictive. As long as it can be shown that it is for the good of Rugby Union Football from Under 19 downwards it will be eligible for grant. Be innovative. E.g. coaching courses, referee courses, first aid and health and safety courses, Child Protection or Child Welfare type courses etc.
Innovative ideas to promote and further support Rugby Union Football in Club or School from Under 19 downwards to bring about retention of players to the adult game can be considered for grant.
Innovative ideas or processes to introduce or bring new adults into the supporting roles or running/managing roles of teams or squads of players in Rugby Union Football for Under 19 downward age groups can be considered for grant.
Further innovative ideas supporting Rugby Union Football for Under 19 downwards age groups can be considered for grant.
